Fortum Charge & Drive’s Brilliant Plugsurfing Acquisition (#CleanTechnica Exclusive)

I wonder if you remember your first EV charging experiences. For me, it all started with a Renault Zoe some time ago, and that still remains one of my best EV memories (regardless of driving Tesla models later on, this was a “first love” kind of thing 🙂 ). I charged it at home every night as I drove it around like crazy, and one day I was travelling a longer distance and planned to charge in the city of Wrocław (Poland). Well, I must be honest, I actually didn’t plan at all and only knew there were chargers in the city. Oh, was I naive!

300 Electric Buses Make No News In Poland

Poland is quite far from being a leader in the rEVolution and we normally get overly excited when things, even small ones, move in the right direction — EV enthusiasts go as far as to celebrate openings of EV charging stations!

So much the more, I was amazed to learn that one of the Polish metropolises, Katowice, is planning to purchase 300 electric buses and very little is said about it in the press or social media.

Is Coal A Patriotic Issue?

This is a voice from behind the Iron Curtain … again! It may sound like history is playing a joke on us here in Poland, but the truth is we are being pushed behind an invisible barrier separating us from a more sustainable West. There is no wall anymore (we’re lagging behind the USA a bit in that matter 😉 ) but a brief look at any interactive map of air quality/pollution will quickly reveal our place in Europe — 33 out of the 50 dirtiest cities in Europe are in Poland. And yet, if you ask a person in the street, you would be surprised how much people still value coal and revere miners. What a paradox!
